AM #2701 - Tapping Toes Grades: PreK-1 No Lab Fee Tap shoes are needed. Tapping your toes to tap dancing fun! Learn the standard tap steps, techniques, and rhythms. At the end, show family and friends what you’ve learned. Instructor: Lara Nelson, BFA in Dance and full time teacher. AM #2702 - Artography from the Seven Continents Grades: PreK-1 Lab Fee: $20 Don’t forget your passport! Depart to each of the seven continents by boat. Arrive at our destination and learn the history and geography of the land. Use our creative minds to produce art projects related to the continent we visit that day. Bon voyage! AM #2703 - Mad Science Grades: K-2 Lab Fee: $50 Mad Science is on a mission to spark your imagination and curiosity while exploring the fields of physics, chemistry, astronomy, geology, and oceanography with a genuine Mad Scientist! This engaging inquiry-based program includes hands-on activities and exciting demonstrations. Instructor: Mad Science of Cincinnati AM #2704 - Intro to French Grades: 1-3 Lab Fee: $10 Learn French using the Total Physical Response method. Don’t plan to sit around looking at books. Your whole body will be involved in learning phrases and simple commands. You’ll be able to identify colors, shapes, numbers, fruits, vegetables, and body parts. Learn songs and games and eat great food! Previous students welcome! Instructor: Alal Elayyadi, MA French Lit & Civ., French teacher at Clark Montessori. AM #2705 - Geofinity: An Adventure in Geometry for Primary Kids Grades: 2-3 Lab Fee: $25 WELCOME TO A GEOMETRIC ADVENTURE! You have been selected to take a trip to a new planet called Geo. Learn Geolanguage, build a spaceship, meet aliens, and much more, during this OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD hands-on geometry experience. Instructor: Terri Russo, Bachelors in Elementary Education and Literature, Masters in Gifted Education. She has been teaching gifted children for 9 years and has a passion for learning, drama, and gifted children. AM #2706 - Front Page Grades: 2-4 Lab Fee: $10 A newspaper is really a “daily miracle.” Each day more than 100 writers, editors, photographers and artists produce the equivalent of an average novel. Put yourself in some of these jobs. Write stories and decide which ones will be on the front page. One homework assignment. Instructor: Walt Schaefer, worked for the Cincinnati Enquirer for 36 years and is currently the communications director at the Athenaeum of Ohio. Eight years with Super Saturday. AM #2707 - Winning Chess II Grades: 2 - 8 Lab Fee: $6 Can you beat your dad yet? In this class for more advanced players, you’ll progress into basic strategy, openings, evaluating positions, capitalizing on an opponent’s weaknesses, and utilizing your strengths. There is new material every session based on student interest and skill level. Prerequisite: Winning Chess I, but can be waived with teacher approval. Instructor: Michael Budkie, 10 years with The Super Saturday Program. AM #2708 - In The King’s Court Grades: 3 - 5 Lab Fee: $15 Explore medieval times through simulation games, projects, and film. Design a shield and build a castle! Learn about battles and feudal lifestyles. Experience the art, music, and legends of the era while having fun. Instructor: Jo Heckinger, professional writer and teacher at the Cincinnati Academy of Math and Science. AM #2709 - Chinese Grades: 3-6 No lab fee Take your first step to learn the world’s oldest widely spoken language and immerse yourself in a different culture. Learn Chinese through songs, rhymes, games and pictures. Instructor: Ling Ling Nian, Chinese instructor with University of Cincinnati AM #2710 - Sciensation Grades: 4 - 6 Lab Fee: $15 Explore our physical world through hands-on activities. We will investigate motion and discover chemistry. Learn new concepts every week! Instructor: Tammy Wright, Chemistry/Physics Teacher, Homeschooling mom. AM #2711 - Writing for Laughs! Grades: 4 - 6 Lab fee: $5 Funny things occur in life, but great comedy doesn’t just happen; it is something that needs to be well written. In this session, learn how to craft a skit, parody song, humorous newscast and more. Develop the fundamentals of great humor writing as you come to understand the disciplines of satire, parody, and comedy in general. Instructor: P. F. Wilson, freelance journalist and comedy writer who contributes to several newspapers and radio programs around the country. AM #2712 - Latin Made Fun Grades: 4-7 Lab Fee: $10 Explore one of the world’s most intriguing languages! Latin teaches thinking in a methodical way, increases vocabulary, and makes literature more meaningful by creating appropriate connections.
Instructor: Sr Dolores, Head of the Latin program at Seton High School, assisted by her Latin scholar students. AM #2713 - Create with Polymer Clay Grades: 4 - 8 Lab Fee: $30 Bring your creativity! Explore the many ways of using and creating with polymer clay. Choose your own project whether it’s jewelry, key chains, candleholders or something you create on your own. Use this class to make presents for your family or friends. Instructor: Lisa Hellrung, an artist and mom. She attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati. AM #2714 - Rock Guitar Grades: 5 - 8 Lab Fee: $5 Maybe you can’t tune a fish, but you can learn to tune a guitar. Begin to master basic chords and scales while learning to play a complete rock song. Acoustic or electric guitars are welcome. Take a field trip to Sawyer Point and play like a true musician at the amphitheater. Instructor: Clint Stortz, musician who has been part of 2 different rock bands locally. He has almost a decade of experience and has over 20 hours of studio time. AM #2715 - Architectural History and Design Grades: 5-8 Lab Fee: $15 Study pyramids, castles, Roman and Gothic architecture, and skyscrapers. The design challenge for this class will be to design a home for a client. Instructor: Gloria Coleman, BS in Architecture, and currently works as an architect with Glaserworks. AM #2716 - Hands-On-The-Mic Grades: 6 - 8 Lab Fee: $4 Sing and perform with an audience on your own terms!Hundreds of song selections and a variety of genres from which to choose. Be as musical or dramatic as your imagination will allow. The stage is yours. This weekly gathering offers a platform to strut your stuff or to spontaneously invent that new persona. AM #2717 - Junior CSI Grades: 6-8 Lab Fee: $25 Learn how to investigate “The Cause of Death.” Discover what really happens in Forensic Science. Investigate mock crime scenes and solve cases. Locate the country on the map and learn about the culture of the people. We will learn through art, stories, songs, customs and food. Learn to win at chess, starting with the basics: how to set up the board, how pieces move and what they are worth, checkmate, stalemate, en passant, etc. Progress into pins, forks, and skewers, and finish with basic openings, strategies and tactics. Crack open the women’s history door and take a look inside. Do you see Queen Boudica, riding in her chariot saving her people in England? Now, look at the Trung sisters from Vietnam who led an army of 80,000 people. There goes Deborah Sampson who fought in the American Revolution! Get to know these warrior women and more!

PM #2764 - Elementary, My Dear Shakespeare III Grades: 5-8 Lab Fee: $25 Fall in love with William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night: another hilarious, twisted tale of disguise, mistaken identity, and misplaced affection. He loves her, but she loves him, and he--happens to be a SHE in disguise, who loves the guy who loves her. OH MY! What a tangled web of silliness Shakespeare weaves. The strong female leads of Viola and Maria, and the ridiculous male characters, Sir Toby Belch and Malvolio, make for one extraordinarily fun play to perform. Don’t miss out!
